Loo-C's
FurFriend Fashions was inspired by two wonderful FurFriends-
Lucille "Lucy" and Madeline "Maddy-Loo".
Loo
was an angel in cat's clothing, found in an alley, just weeks
old, sick and hungry. As she grew, we became quite certain
that there couldn't be a sweeter creature on the planet. She
was also something of a model. She had a gorgeous cream colored
coat with gray tabby stripes on her face, legs and tail. She
always kept an eye on her figure and had striking blue eyes
with tinges of deep purple. Her sweet little voice could melt
your heart. As an artist and jeweler, I always said I should
make her a necklace with big blue stones to match her eyes.
Unfortunately, being made of "pure sugar" as she
was, her heart was weak. She left this earth before I "got
around to it." I am convinced, however, that she knew
she was leaving and brought Lucy into my life.
I
found Lucy driving back from a Christmas vacation several
states away. It was bitter cold outside and as I drove through
"the Middle of Nowhere", something darted across
the highway. I was sure it was a dog, so I pulled over. Huddled
in the ditch was a tiny weinerdog, shivering and scared. I
called out, but she was too scared and kept backing away.
Then suddenly, her eyes just lit up. She barreled toward me
and leapt into my arms. She was really shaking as I put her
under my coat. I could feel every bone in her body. I checked
her neck, no collar. I looked around, nothing, not even an
exit ramp. I couldn't leave her to starve, freeze or be eaten
by coyotes. I put her in the car and off we drove. After a
few good meals and a trip to the vet, she has turned out to
be quite the love.
And,
as fate would have it, she's a model too!
Just
two months after Lucy arrived, Loo left us. But, I was inspired.
I would make Loo that necklace anyhow, and one for Lucy too!
In fact, all of our FurFriends should have one! So, it started,
and in honor of Loo and Lucy, a portion of every sale is given
to an animal rescue organization.
